Ports of Entry: Acclaim Studios London

This list includes games by Probe Software, as the studio was originally known. It does not include games by other Acclaim subsidiaries.

Unknown lead platform:

Savage

Released for Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, & ZX Spectrum in 1988

Released for Amiga, Atari ST, & PC in 1989

CPC and ZX Spectrum are the only versions where designers Dave Perry and Nick Bruty are credited with programming. C64 version looks rather ugly in comparison.

Overlord

Released for Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, & PC in 1990

Designer David Perry is credited with programming Amiga & Atari ST. Amiga appears to use 32 colors in gameplay, and more in certain screens.

Back to the Future Part III

Released for Amiga, Atari ST, C64, PC, Genesis, & Sega Master System in 1991

Ported to Amstrad CPC & ZX Spectrum in 1991 by Keith Software

Amiga uses 32 colors in the train level (but nowhere else).

Alien³

First released for Sega Genesis in October 1992

Released for Amiga & Sega Master System in 1992

Genesis appears to be a bit more colorful than Amiga, and displays a greater vertical resolution.

Bram Stoker's Dracula

First released for Gameboy & NES in September 1993

Released for Game Gear & Sega Master System in 1993

Judge Dredd

First released for SNES in June 1995

Released for Genesis in 1995

Released for PC in 1996

Batman Forever

First released for SNES in August 1995

Released for Genesis in 1995

Released for PC in 1996

Alien Trilogy

First released for PlayStation in February 1996

Ported to Saturn in August 1996

Released for PC in November 1996

Forsaken

Released for PC & PlayStation in April 1998

Ported to N64 in May 1998 by Iguana UK

Re-Volt

Released for N64, PC, & PlayStation in August 1999

Released for Dreamcast in December 1999

PC lead, maybe? N64/PC/PS1 all have different credits for coders, but Balor Knight, credited in all three versions as lead programmer, is the only one credited specifically to the PC version.

  1. Acording to this article https://www.retrogamer.net/retro_games80/the-making-of-trantor-the-last-stormtrooper/ , Nick Bruty started making trantor in spectrum, David Perry did the amstrad version and they both finished at the same time.

    1. Sounds like the Amstrad version is a conversion but one based on incomplete Spectrum code. I think for my purposes the Spectrum version should be considered Bruty's original design.

  2. I really just wanna play the games with fishhooks. Just the masterpieces. Life is too short to play anything else
