Just played Rev 3 on Daphne, selecting Cadet at the start, making sure to die every now and then so that the difficulty does not advance, and it did skip all of those scenes. Never noticed that before The notes on Space Ace Enhancement say that the original game shortened the timing window on Captain and Ace.Ahabhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04131989140638867919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6264881409789872629.post-53821721949756654882021-02-22T12:57:02.067-05:002021-02-22T12:57:02.067-05:00It may be different in Daphne, I'll have to re...It may be different in Daphne, I'll have to revisit that, my memories were from the original arcade machine which I played a ton. Off the top of my head, going from Cadet to Ace level adds the three-scene sequence consisting of: Junkyard scene (with the robots that try to vacuum pack you), dogfight scene, and checkerboard tunnel scene, and then the rollerskating maze scene toward the end. Captain adds some subset of those, I want to say just the junkyard and dogfight, but I'm not 100% sure.DGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05982918160053955805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6264881409789872629.post-5193922218109282572021-02-21T21:55:42.265-05:002021-02-21T21:55:42.265-05:00When I play in Daphne with the Rev. Do you remember what gets skipped/added in Captain?Ahabhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04131989140638867919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6264881409789872629.post-46136846153040524492021-02-21T18:16:43.573-05:002021-02-21T18:16:43.573-05:00A little confused about your description of the di...A little confused about your description of the difficulty levels on Space Ace. I remember specifically that the Captain and Ace levels added entire scenes to the game, and in the latter case, made you run through several of them twice, once mirrored (that part kind of detracted from the game for me). They may very well have tightened the timing window along with that, but that certainly wasn't the only difference between them.DGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05982918160053955805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6264881409789872629.post-23169563944017884372019-03-11T20:53:01.581-04:002019-03-11T20:53:01.581-04:00720 is emulated with the right "feel" in...720 is emulated with the right "feel" in Midway Arcade Treasures, where the controls are based around you holding the joystick in some direction and just never centering it. A trackball feels like a very odd substitute.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
